We are moving to Spain. We are moving to Madrid, Spain in July. It just seems crazy to say. I’ve wanted to live in Spain and to work for a talented innovation and design consultancy for a number of years now. I am so excited that I get to do both! And I know I am super lucky to have a wonderful husband who is enthusiastic for another new adventure.

Last Tuesday people around the world celebrated the pre-Lent festival known as Mardi Gras, Fat Tuesday, Carnival, or Krnjeval here in Split. The people in Split put on an impressive celebration despite the rainy weather. It may not have had the festive colors and elaborate costumes of Rio de Janeiro or Venice, but it sure beat any Mardi Gras I’ve seen before.

This year watching the Olympics in Vancouver has brought back recent memories from our trip to Sarajevo and all of the old Olympic venues we saw. It got me to thinking that it would be cool to have a t-shirt that lists all of the cities that have hosted the Olympics – a tribute to the cities and to everything the Olympics represents. I couldn’t find one online, so I decided to design one myself.

We started out the evening at the museum in Split’s old city hall. It was all about the history of Split (with a lot of old photos and a lot to read) and seemed like the perfect exhibit to start off Croatia’s ‘NOC MUZEJA’ or Museum Night. Last weekend we left our beach house for the city. We decided it was time for a new apartment closer to town, so we moved to Varoš, an old suburb of Split known for its small and narrow winding streets just outside the city walls.
