Congratulations for making such a decision - to move to Croatia (!?) for some time to see how life feels like here... I had a reverse experience - went to US and stayed there for five years... I would certainly advise you to check out the continental Croatia, since it is quite different than living at the coast... Go see Varaždin, Čakovec, Koprivnica - nice cities up north, nort-east, see Slavonia (Osijek, Vinkovci...). Food and way of life differ there... It seems that you are having fun.
