Snorkeling:
The snorkeling was indeed fantastic. It was surreal to be able to wade out into the Red Sea for 40 yards before the water rises above your head, and then only swimming another 10 yards to the reef. And the number and colors of the fish was incredible. I commented while we were out there that they didn’t seem to mind invading our personal space at all! I was very surprised also that we never felt them brush against us.

Petra:
As Kelly says, Petra was definitely the highlight of the trip for me. Those of you who know how much I like my sleep, I was not at all looking forward to another pre-4am wakeup call, especially on our last day of the trip. But man was I glad when we made it there. It is definitely one of my favorite sight-seeing adventures yet. I would absolutely love to go back and spend a couple of days on my own hiking around the site, because the majority of it is wide open. I was very surprised that we were not contained to the main trails. It would be lots of fun to trek into and around the mountains.

Also, we did watch Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade since we’ve been home. Very much enjoyed the film, just had to look past all of the silliness. We plan on watching (re-watching – I know I watched a couple of them when I was a young child) the other Indiana Jones movies later this winter.

And as Kelly said, the buffet lunch was GREAT! I think Kelly’s dad, Kevin and I each had two or three servings of the freshly sliced prime roast that they were serving. MMmmmm.
